Summary:

“After a tragic fire in 1922 that killed 19-year-old chambermaid, Grace Hadley, The Hotel Nantucket descended from a gilded age gem to a mediocre budget-friendly lodge to inevitably an abandoned eyesoreΒ β€” until it’s purchased and renovated top to bottom by London billionaire, Xavier Darling.Β  Xavier hires Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton as his general manager, and Lizbet, in turn, pulls together a charismatic, if inexperienced, staff who share the vision of turning the fate of the hotel around. They face challenges in getting along with one another (and with the guests), in overcoming the hotel’s bad reputation, and in surviving the (mostly) harmless shenanigans of Grace Hadley herself β€” who won’t stop haunting the hotel until her murder is acknowledged.”

Review:

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy on not fighting the old, but building the new.”

Hotel Nantucket is my first official Elin Hilderbrand book, and if all of her books are like this one, then I need to get reading! It was the perfect book to end my summer.

I fell head over heels for this beautiful hotel and all of its occupants (even the ones I tried so hard not to like). But, the one character that truly captured my heart was Grace. I know, shocking, I’m attached to the story’s ghost. But I can’t help it (as long as the spirit is friendly). Did anyone else read Hotel Nantucket and love Grace? I loved the omniscient presence that she added to the story.

I relished all of the descriptions EH provided of the hotel; I could practically see it coming to life on the pages. I’d love to know if the hotel is based on an actual hotel the author has visited.

I was set on this being an easy 5-star read, but the last 10% of the book is why I dropped it half a star. Some unnecessary drama erupted between the characters; yes, one thing I did see coming, but other drama just felt like it was added for drama’s sake.

🀩 Likable characters (even those you don’t want to like)
😍 Beautiful descriptions of an exquisite hotel
πŸ‘» Grace the Ghost
πŸ’¨ Rushed ending
🎭 Lots of drama
🏝 Perfect book to finish out your summer!

Hotel Nantucket was a delight to read!
