Summary:
“She’s back.

Meg Williams. Maggie Littleton. Melody Wilde. Different names for the same person, depending on the town, depending on the job. She’s a con artist who erases herself to become whoever you need her to be—a college student. A life coach. A real estate agent. Nothing about her is real. She slides alongside you and tells you exactly what you need to hear, and by the time she’s done, you’ve likely lost everything.

Kat Roberts has been waiting ten years for the woman who upended her life to return. And now that she has, Kat is determined to be the one to expose her. But as the two women grow closer, Kat’s long-held assumptions begin to crumble, leaving Kat to wonder who Meg’s true target is.”

Review:

The Lies I Tell makes for the perfect summer read! It’s full of mystery, intrigue, and one woman determined to destroy several lives. But, don’t worry, these lives aren’t those of upstanding citizens – they’re from those who have lied and manipulated their way to their fortune.

It was entertaining to read as Meg laid out her plan and tried to avoid being discovered. She was a force to be reckoned with, and I cheered her on throughout the entire book. I would have loved to have more chapters detailing her thought-out plans of destruction.

I did enjoy the other perspective from Kat Roberts as she tried to figure out Meg’s game. Unfortunately, Kat is out to get Meg as she blames her for what happened all those years ago. Throughout the book, Kat showed the most character growth. At first, I was a little frustrated by her nativity towards life and her fiancé, but her character grew on me as more was revealed about Kat’s past.

🤓 Bad guys getting what they deserve
🔎 Perfect for the true-crime lover
✌🏼 Dual narrative
💯 Loved the ending

❌ – Sexual assault, rape (not descriptive), gaslighting, addiction

I recommend reading The Lies I Tell if you enjoyed reading You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen.
