“We can’t know why you are dying in the same way that we can’t know why you are living. Living and dying are both complete mysteries, and you can know either until you’ve done both.”
Well, this book just took my heart and ripped it in two. To be fair, I did know what I was getting myself into but knowing and experiencing are different things. Lenni and Margot are two strangers that we can all learn a little bit from.
While much of the book centers around Margot’s 83 years, there was something beautiful about it. In some way, Margot was giving Lenni the years that the 17-year-old would never see. Even though Lenni was dying, she was living through Margot’s stories. It just wrecked my heart but the beauty of their friendship (and their story) put it back together again.
👵🏼👧🏽 The friendship of Lenni & Margot
🥺 Reliving their memories
💜 All the ways and people that Margot loved
💪🏼 Lenni’s strength and perseverance in the face of death
👩🏽⚕️👨🏽 New Nurse and Father Arthur
If you read this (and you absolutely should) get your tissues ready but also be prepared to laugh along with some truly memorable characters and stories.
