Layla

Layla

“I watch Layla sleep, waiting for Willow to take over, but she still hasn’t.”

Thank you to Montlake Publishing and Amazon Publishing for gifting me a copy of LAYLA by Colleen Hoover.

“When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her—until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. To put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.

Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to choose because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.”

Let’s talk a minute about Colleen Hoover (CoHo). I read Regretting You last year and LOVED it – talk bout a story that hits you right in the heart. It was such a fabulous read and I don’t know how it was my first CoHo book. Then I picked up Verity – I remember thinking, ‘wait, this is the same Hoover that wrote Regretting You, right?’. I STILL find myself thinking of that storyline and I read it almost a year ago.

Enter LAYLA. I’m not going to lie, when I saw that CoHo had another book coming out, I just knew I had to read it. I didn’t read the synopsis, I just dove right in. HOLY SMOKES. I was not prepared for the wild ride that I went on with this one.

I should point out that I am being careful in how I go about writing this review as I don’t want to give anything away that could ruin the storyline for you. I want you to pick up this book and read it because I feel that there is unfair stigmatization associated with this type of romance, as it has been attempted but not executed well by other authors. I promise you, CoHo can do no wrong and I was fully invested in this story.

Just read it. Keep an open mind. I hope you were as shocked as I was.

LAYLA will be published on December 8th, 2020, and can be purchased now!
