In a Holidaze
“Call me harlot. Call me impulsive. Call me hungover. No one ever has before, but someone absolutely should this morning. Last night was a disaster.”
Thank you Gallery Books for gifting me this fun holiday book from one of my favorite author duos – Christina Lauren.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…but not for Maelyn Jones. She’s living with her parents, hates her going-nowhere job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions.
But perhaps worst of all, this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favorite place in the world—the snowy Utah cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born, along with two other beloved families. Mentally melting down as she drives away from the cabin for the final time, Mae throws out what she thinks is a simple plea to the universe: Please. Show me what will make me happy.
The next thing she knows, tires screech and metal collides, everything goes black. But when Mae gasps awake…she’s on an airplane bound for Utah, where she begins the same holiday all over again. With one hilarious disaster after another sending her back to the plane, Mae must figure out how to break free of the strange time loop—and finally get her true love under the mistletoe.”
This is my second holiday read of the season and it was exactly what I needed. This week has been beyond stressful for me – I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get into any book that I read because my mind was elsewhere. I decided to pick up Christina Lauren’s newest novel as their stories always allow me to escape a bit from my life. IN A HOLIDAZE was such a delightful read and I am thrilled that I picked it up.
I loved the Groundhog Day aspect of this story and found every page to be full of feel-good moments with a side of humor. I was pulled in to Mae’s orbit and transported out of my bad week, straight into her week that kept repeating itself.. that is until she figured out the way to end her never-ending holiday vacation.
At first, I was concerned as to where the story was going and was worried that Christina Lauren was going to hit me in the chest with a story that left me in tears but, don’t worry, the ending was pure perfection. The entire book had me wishing to have the family experience that Mae had enjoyed her whole life. Also, it had all of the quintessential holiday vibes that I desperately needed.
For those of you who are looking for a light read right now, I highly recommend adding this to your ‘TBR’ list. IN A HOLIDAZE was published on October 6, 2020, and is available to order now.
