“Memories are shape shifters. Some bend, some twist, and some shrivel and die over time. But our worst ones never leave us.”

“Anna Andrews finally has what she wants. Almost. She’s worked hard to become the main TV presenter of the BBC’s lunchtime news, putting work before friends, family, and her now ex-husband. So, when someone threatens to take her dream job away, she’ll do almost anything to keep it.
When asked to cover a murder in Blackdown–the sleepy countryside village where she grew up–Anna is reluctant to go. But when the victim turns out to be one of her childhood friends, she can’t leave. It soon becomes clear that Anna isn’t just covering the story, she’s at the heart of it.
DCI Jack Harper left London for a reason but never thought he’d end up working in a place like Blackdown. When the body of a young woman is discovered, Jack decides not to tell anyone that he knew the victim, until he begins to realize he is a suspect in his own murder investigation.”
Y’all.. this book. Holy cow. I was hooked, speechless and mildly (okay very) creeped out from the first chapter. I did not anticipate being sucked into this story as quickly as I was but once I started I could not stop. I even told my husband that I would do the dishes after dinner because I desperately needed to listen to this audiobook a while longer.
I love physical copies of books but I think that HIS & HERS is best listened to on audio. The dual narration between Anna and Jack was what I loved about this story but then the introduction of the third narrator… I mean, it doesn’t get creepier than that.
While listening to HIS & HERS, I trying to figure out who the killer was. I was 100% positive that I knew who. I was wrong. Then I thought I had it figured out again. It was a constant cycle of this throughout the book and, to be completely honest, I didn’t figure it out until the end.
However, this storyline does come with a handful of trigger warnings: rape, sexual assault, suicide, death of a child, animal cruelty, drug usage, bullying, and domestic violence. The author put the whole shebang into this book and if you have any questions or concerns about reading this one, please message me so we can chat about it.
Despite all of the trigger warnings above, I still gave this book 4.5 stars. Again, I highly encourage you to listen instead of reading this one, it will be worth it.
His & Hers will be published on July 28, 2020. Thank you, again, to Libro.FM for the opportunity to listen to this book before its publishing date!
