You Were There Too

“It occurs to me that marriage is a lot like (a) TV. The connection gets loose sometimes – even to the point where you think it might not work anymore – but then something jars it and the wires slip back in place, exactly where they belong, lighting up the screen and bringing back the sound; everything worked as it should.”

Thank you Berkley Publishing for gifting me an advanced copy of Colleen Oakley’s newest book You Were There, Too

“Acclaimed author Colleen Oakley delivers a heart-wrenching and unforgettable love story about a woman who must choose between the man she loves and the man fate has chosen for her in a novel that reminds us that the best life is one led by the heart.

Mia Graydon’s life looks picket-fence perfect; she has the house, her loving husband, and dreams of starting a family. But she has other dreams too — unexplained, recurring ones starring the same man. Still, she doesn’t think much of them, until a relocation to small-town Pennsylvania brings her face to face with the stranger she has been dreaming about for years. And this man harbors a jaw-dropping secret of his own—he’s been dreaming of her too.

Determined to understand, Mia and this not-so-stranger search for answers. But when diving into their pasts begins to unravel her life in the present, Mia emerges with a single question—what if?”

First, let me start by saying that I am the exact opposite of a cynic. I believe in fate,  in true love, love at first sight, premonitions, etc. I am a believer in paying close attention to what our dreams tell us. So, when I first read the synopsis for You Were There, Too, I knew I had to read this book.

I was moved deeply by Colleen Oakley’s writing style. I loved Mia from the first chapter and, without going into too many specifics, I can relate to her on countless levels. This book touched a place in my heart and brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions. I was drawn to all of the characters in such an unexpected way.

I stayed up until the early hours of the morning to finish this book and, as I closed the last page, I couldn’t stop the tears from falling. Colleen Oakley managed to write this incredible book and bring to life characters with such sincere depth that it blew me away.

I can’t recommend You Were There, Too enough. It was such a refreshing take on the romance genre and I will hold this close to my heart.
