Thank you to Lake Union Publishing for gifting me an advanced copy of The Two Lila Bennetts by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke.
“Lila Bennett’s bad choices have finally caught up with her. And one of those decisions has split her life in two. Literally.
In one life, she’s taken hostage by someone who appears to be a stranger but knows too much. As she’s trapped in a concrete cell, her kidnapper forces her to face what she’s done or be killed. In an alternate life, she eludes her captor but is hunted by someone who is dismantling her happiness, exposing one secret at a time.
Lila’s decorated career as a criminal defense attorney, her marriage, and her life are on the line. She must make a list of those she’s wronged—both in and out of the courtroom—to determine who is out to get her before it’s too late. But even if she can pinpoint her assailant, will she survive? And if she does, which parts of her life are worth saving, and which parts must die? Because one thing’s for certain—life as Lila Bennett knew it is over.” – Goodreads.
If there’s one thing that I have always wondered about its what life would be like if I had made one decision over another; if I had taken the road less traveled; if I had said no, instead of saying yes. Would things have turned out differently or would I have ended up exactly where I sit today? The Two Lila Bennetts did a phenomenal job of highlighting that concept within its 320 pages of dual-narrative non-stop psychological suspense.

This book had one dark twist after another that kept me reading until I finished that last page. I finished this book within 24 hours and the ending left me wondering what had happened to Lila Bennett. I even went as far as reading the last few chapters again because the ending bent my perception of the storyline in such a way that I was left speechless. I’ve honestly thought about the ending since finishing the book and am still unsure as to what to think. If you have read this book, I would love to talk with you about it.
This is a great book to pick up if you are looking for a quick read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a true fast-paced, dark and twisty, psychological thriller that is perfect summer read.
Thank you, again, to Lake Union Publishing for the advanced copy of this book. The Two Lila Bennetts by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke will be published on July 23rd.
